Abstract:This doctoral course provides an overview of research frontier in operations management in both manufacturing industry and service sector. After a holistic review of the operations management subjects, focus will be put on selected topics in order to familiarize the students with the most influential research articles in the area of operations management, and the research approaches, theories and research methodologies. On completion of this course, students should have gained in-depth knowledge of developments in the selected research areas.

A written exam (50 points, Open text. Books, articles, lecture slides, notes are allowed) 2. A written report (50 points) Objective Operations management is a key element in improving performance in different business sectors. In this report, students should provide in-depth discussion on one selected OM topic, operations management principles, research methodology or modelling techniques which have been introduced in the course. In this project, students are also encouraged to make connection between the knowledge obtained in this course with their current (or expected) research issues. Grading The grade of the report is determined according to the following four aspects. The maximum point in this report is 50. Thoroughness: the relevant topic should be discussed thoroughly, 15p. Innovative ideas: apply the knowledge to current/expected research topics, 15 p. Structure: well structured report to state clearly your objective, method and results, 10 p. Communication: written with a scientific language, 10p.

考试方式: A written report in a selected topic(50%)平时成绩(50%): 1. Attend the seminar sessions; 2. Read the distributed articles and actively participate in the discussion; 3. Lead a discussant session for a selected topic
