Horticulture and environment biotechnology in protected field, as a main characteristic curriculum that suitable for subjects of horticulture, crop science and ornamental horticulture, embodies a overlapping and fusion between agriculture and engineering as well as between agriculture and information management. It fully reflects the latest international and local achievements in protected horticulture research field, introduces the application of material science, life science and information management in protected horticulture, focus on the application and contribution of biotechnology, engineering and automatic control technology in protected horticulture and modern agriculture. The teaching content pays attention to the relationship of facilities, environment and plant physiological metabolism, emphasizes the sustainable development and environmental protection. This curriculum mainly lectures the types, structures and functions of horticultural facilities, the equipments for regulating facilities environment, the management in protected horticulture production, and also, demonstrates some new technology for soilless culture and factory production. There are two parts of this curriculum. Part one contains general theories and basic knowledge, which include the concepts of protected agriculture and protected horticulture, the facilities and environmental control in protected horticulture, the plant growth and physiological ecology in facilities, horticultural soilless culture and factory production, et al. Part two mainly introduces the protected cultivation for vegetables, flowers and fruit trees, and the factory production technology for turf grass.
