Fault detection and diagnosis is getting to be received widely attention these years in industries, such as iron and steel industry, chemical process, pulp and paper process, automobile and power plants. What we talk in this lecture is to help students understand the basic ideas of fault detection and diagnosis, and emerging new methods in this area. The students will be benefit from this lecture for their career. The lecture concerns the following issues, preliminaries of fault detection and diagnosis, model/data driven methods, performance assessment of control systems, and their applications to maintenance of industry process.
