What the course Contemporary Foreign Social Ideological Trends teaches is mainly the ideological trends which emerged in western developed capitalist countries since 1970s and have great influences in the world, it involves so many aspects as the politics, economy and culture of the western society, and covers the fields of philosophy, politics, economics, sociology and theories of culture, its concrete contents include Postmodernism, Postcolonialism, Futurism, Neoliberalism, Socialism of Ecology, The Third Way, Theory on the Clash of Civilizations, etc. Closely relating to the reality of the economy, politics and culture of the western society, on the base of a careful studying of social and cultural backgrounds of these ideological trends, the course aims at making a deep and systematic analysis and explanation, and giving them a objective evaluation from a Marxist viewpoint so that the reasonable factors are affirmed while displaying the theoretical essence and limitations of them. The goal of this course is to make the students to grasp the basic contents of contemporary foreign social ideological trend, to broaden their theoretical field of vision, to improve the ability of distinguishing between the right and wrong , and to strengthen their faith in Marxism and the social ideal of communism.
