By attending this course the students would get to know the history and development of large-span structures and their structural form, mechanics characters and engineering application. Combined with the theories and the construction things, the characteristics of spatial braced and dome structure projects around the world will be introduced in details. The students will learn the structures’ form , their mechanical characteristics and application area, also the nodes’ construction and bars’ construction in engingeering. Through the developping of the formula of two-node linear and nonlinear bar element and presenting the procedure of full-stress optimization, the students will master the analysis and design procedure of the spatial braced structures’ in principle. On the basis of energy principle and by developping the linear elements and the nonlinear ones, let the students master the basic concepts and the procedure of finite element method in the spatial dome structures’ design, and also their mechanical characteristics and application areas,and know how to use the corresponding software. Let students understand some typical constructing methods and procedures for the spatial braced and dome structures’ , and know the constructing procedure of the spatial braced structures.
