本课程旨在培养硕士研究生的英语综合能力,提高学生在学术及日常交际场合中的听、说、读、写、译等技能。本课程要求学生掌握一定的英语听力技能,能够较流利地进行英语会话和发言,在阅读方面达到较高的速度和理解准确性, 在写作上能够语言较流畅,篇章基本连贯。 此外,课程还将培养学生一定的翻译能力。

Course Description This course aims to develop students' comprehensive proficiency in English. It focuses on training key skills in oral and written communication for academic as well as non-academic purposes. By the end of the semester, students are expected to be able to understand English talks with proper comprehension skills (Listening); to participate in English conversations and to give English presentations with fluency (Speaking); to understand written texts with adequate speed and accuracy (Reading); to write English essays with clarity and coherence (Writing); and to acquire essential translation skills.

本课程阅读教材为《新视角研究生英语 读说写2》(以下简称"阅读"),听力教材为《 中级英语听力》(Dunkel & Lim 1994) (以下简称"听力"), 具体内容安排如下: 第 1周: 课程介绍 第2 - 4 周: 阅读 Unit 1;听力 Units 1 & 2 第5 - 7 周: 阅读 Unit 2;听力 Unit 3 (Chapters 1-3) 第8 - 10 周: 阅读 Unit 3;听力 Unit 3 (Chapters 4-5) 第11 - 13 周:阅读 Unit 4; 听力 Unit 4 第14 - 16 周:阅读 Unit 5; 听力 Unit 5 第17 - 18 周:口语练习、测试;复习;听力补充练习 The textbooks of this course are "New Perspective Graduate Series: Reading, Speaking, and Writing; Book 2" for reading and "Intermediate listening comprehension: Understanding and recalling spoken English" (Dunkel & Lim 1994) for listening.
