Western Literary Theory and Criticism focuses on the introduction of the important literary theories and schools from Plato to the twentieth century, including the Mimetic Criticism, Formalism, New Criticism, Psychoanalytic Criticism, Myth-Archetype Criticism, Structuralism, De-constuctionism, etc. This course will help graduates understand the development of western literary theory as well as the main ideas of some important theories.
