这门课介绍古典和当前的国际关系理论。目标是为学生从一种更加复杂的角度独立研究当代政治问题提供依据。课程将介绍基本范畴和理论,包括帝国主义,新帝国主义,全球化等。我们也会从历史发展的理论角度来研究这些概念和理论。我们将特别关注中国与世界强国的关系。

课程英文简介:

This course introduces students to classical and current theories of international relations. The aim is to make it possible for students to reflect on contemporary political issues from a more sophisticated point of view and to provide a basis for conducting independent research. Basic categories of theories will be introduced — Realism, Idealism etc — but we will also look at historical developments from a theoretical perspective, including imperialism, neo-imperialism, and globalization. A particular focus throughout the course will be Chinese relations with Western powers.

教学大纲:

Each class will consist of three sections. In section one, we will go through a short classical text in international relations theory; the second section will have a traditional lecture; the third section will be a seminar discussion with student presentations.

Students will be required to write two papers, 10-15 pages. In addition the grade will be based on class participation and discussions.
