"Histochemistry and immunohistochemistry were widely used in bioscientific research and pathological diagnosis. By using the molecular biological process on tissue sections, This technique makes it possible to study some proteins or nuclear acids in histo-cellular level. When it is combined with the hybridization technology, some of the gene changes such as translocation, loss or amplification could be detected on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections. This teaching subject was mainly focused on the pretreatment of the tissue, the principle of histochemistry on glucose and nuclear acids, the role of enzymes on histochemistry, the technique by using peroxidase, immunofluorescence, ABC complex and radioautograph. Other technologies such as hybridization in situ and PCR in situ are also presented. The studients will have chance to do some of the manipulations such as tissue preparation, H&E stains, histochemistry for glucose, nuclear acids and enzymes. The manipulation of immunohistochemistry with fluorescence technique will also be done."
